It started innocently enough as an "easy" project to be a short distraction from bigger projects... ...after all, it's just a "ball" with a couple of "cones" attached, how hard could it be..? Laughing yet? You know my pain. The exterior is now mostly complete except for the arms, the bottom and a few other small details. The software is "Microstation" which is primarily used for architectural design. The front "grill" details are a composite of the close up set piece and the those seen on the full scale props. Posts: 3 (04/09/09 08:38:30) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	The rear details show some of the elements to the right of the hatch as 2D range boxes or as incorrect colors (black). The "T" handle has not been detailed in 3D and next to it is a black range box for the text stencil found there. The black box below it is a raised panel with a few tiny kit parts on it which is also incomplete. The recessed box at the very bottom of the Pod on the center line also needs a few details added. I'm getting there...

I've been playing around with LightWave's steep learning curve trying to figure out how to approach this, but you've already done it, complete with interior! I would love to get a copy of the source files, or a .dxf export. How did you get the panels to join correctly? trial and error? I've been trying to figure this out. I'm sure there's a way to do it using inverse kinematics. I can import Paulbo's .pdf's into Lightwave and extrude them into solid panels, but how do you put them together in 3D so the edges join perfectly? Again, this is a great addition to this forum.

It's funny - I did the interior panels "the old fashioned way" in 2D knowing what I wanted, and then doing complex geometry to get the surface projections right.
